The deadline for youth to be registered for Garrett Lakes Arts Festival’s two special workshops is May 29, so those interested are encouraged to get signed up. The Summer Voice Clinic and the Young Artists’ Workshop are summer class series for middle and high school students. The voice clinic, set for June 22-26, is taught by Amy Riffle-Kouyeas and is available for students who are entering 7th grade through graduating seniors. The clinic will be held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at St. Paul’s Methodist Church, Oakland. The Young Artists’ Workshop will be taught by Laura Stutzman and is open to students entering 8th grade through graduating seniors. It will be held July 6-10, 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. each day, at the Garrett College Art Gallery. The piece shown here is a product of last year’s workshop — a painting of buttons, compiled by the students. The registration fee for each workshop is $100. Scholarships are available. To register or receive more information, persons may contact the GLAF office at 301-387-3082. Registrations are also available online through the GLAF web site, located at www.artsandentertainment.org. Minimum enrollments are necessary.
